DFL is aiming for three distinct goals. Firstly, to develop an open platform for exchanging and sharing knowledge that is related to digital fabrication. Students, sponsors, and outside institutes are brought together to communicate, collaborate, and expand new ways of thinking and learning. Secondly, to extend the field of digital fabrication in architecture by experimenting with the latest fabrication technology. Currently, our laser cutter, CNC machine, and 3D printer serve important roles in the develop of our projects and research, which focus on innovative design and construction processes. Our final goal is to develop more humanistic fabrication processes incorporating new tools such as sensory technologies and robotic systems. These development will bring digital fabrication closer to users and give them greater possibilites for design and creation.

DFLは３つの目標を掲げて活動しています。一つは、デジタルファブリケーションに関する知識を共有する開かれたプラットフォームの構築です。学生やスポンサー、また他の機関等が一つの組織となり、それぞれの知識を高めるコミュニケーションやコラボレーションが行われます。 二つ目は最新技術を用いて、デジタルファブリケーションの領域を広げることです。本ラボにはレーザーカッター、NCマシン、三次元プリンターがあり、我々が進めているデザインや施工プロセスに関するプロジェクトや研究において重要な役割を担っています。三つ目はセンサーやロボット技術を新しいツールとして取り入た、より人間的なファブリケーションの開発です。この開発はデジタルファブリケーションをより人間に近い物にし、創造の可能性を広げることに繋がると考えています。
