DFL was involved in the construction of a few pavilions last year. These pavilions were prototypes incorporating our research and studies at DFL. “Minimal Surface Pavilion” was built and displayed at Tokyo Designer’s Week 2011. As an attempt to create a structure as light as possible while generating a complex spatial geometry, a shrink-warp membrane was used as a tension element connecting two independent rings.  After the event, this pavilion was reconstructed in the center of Shinjuku.

We also built other pavilions including “Hydro Tectonic Paper Pavilion” and “Circle Packing Pavilion”. These were built and displayed at Kenchiku Kaikan in July, and at The University of Tokyo in August.

Beside pavilions, our works had been displayed at many exhbitions. Here is the video that was shown at Centre Pompidu during “Advances in Architectural Geometry 2012.”

昨年、DFLはいくつかのパビリオンの制作に関わりました。これらのパビリオンは我々の研究のプロトタイプとして、DFLの活動を伝える重要な要素になっています。「ミニマルサーフェースパビリオン」は去年の東京デザイナーズウィークの為に制作され、期間中は他のパビリオンと共に展示されました。可能な限り軽く、かつ複雑な空間の幾何学を生み出す構造をつくるために、二つの独立するリング同士をつなぐテンション材として、収縮する膜を用いて作られました。東京デザイナーズウィーク後には新宿の中に設置され、様々な方々に見て頂きました。

その他にも「ハイドロテクトニックペーパーパビリオン」や「サークルパッキングパビリオン」などが制作され、７月には建築会館で、８月には東京大学で展示されました。

パビリオン以外にも様々な所で我々の作品の展示が行われました。下のビデオは「Advances in Architectural Geometry 2012」というイベント中にポンピドゥーセンターで展示された映像です。
